CANADIAN DIPLOMAT ROMAN VASHCHUK CALLED PERSECUTION OF POROSHENKO A “VENGEANCE THAT WILL HAVE VERY BAD CONSEQUENCES”

The influential Canadian diplomat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine in 2014-2019 Roman Vashchuk warned the Ukrainian authorities against plans to “throw Poroshenko behind bars, the tone set by the emissaries of Portnov and Kolomoisky.”

This was announced on Twitter by the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine in 2014-2019 Roman Vashchuk.

“Plans to lock up Poroshenko were already afoot in mid-2019, pitched by Portnov/Kolomoisky emissaries bent on (a) vengeance for economic and reputational losses and (b) political benefit, given negative public perceptions of Poro their media had helped create. I told them then, and continue to believe: cleaning up corruption in a predecessor’s entourage is good and necessary, while an overtly political vendetta to take down a major, familiar partner for Western efforts of the past 5 years would be a strategic mistake and backfire badly,” Roman Vashchuk said.

Former US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Walker advised President Volodymyr Zelenskyi to strengthen the state, not to persecute the opposition leader.

It will be recalled that the European Solidarity faction is absolutely convinced that Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova has received a clear instruction from President Volodymyr Zelensky to persecute the opposition.

We will remind that employees of Management of State Protection in violation of the law didn’t let People’s Deputies from “European Solidarity” and lawyers through to Venediktova to which Poroshenko actually got through.

Previously, a representative of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine tried to hand over a suspecion to Petro Poroshenko in the SBI building.

After that, the fifth president himself arrived at the Prosecutor General’s Office. “We are here to demonstrate – we are not afraid of them. We came here to tell them that they are violating the law, the Constitution, trying to turn Ukraine into an authoritarian regime,” Poroshenko said.

After the meeting with Venediktova, Petro Poroshenko stated that he was ready to come to the Prosecutor General’s Office again at any time.
