An influential Swedish politician, diplomat and former Swedish Prime Minister, Carl Bildt, has warned Volodymyr Zelenskyi against unjustified persecution of the fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.
Bildt commented on the announcement by the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine of criminal proceedings against Petro Poroshenko over the Minsk agreements, which was initiated by one of Viktor Yanukovych’s associates Andrii Portnov. He noted that President Zelenskyi is following Yanukovych in the fight against political opponents.
“Yanukovych put Tymoshenko in prison on trumped up charges, and now Zelenskyi seems to be aiming to do the same. Shame!” Carl Bildt wrote on Twitter.
“This is Ukraine at its worst,” wrote Carl Bildt.
We will remind that according to Ihor Holovan, the current director of State Bureau of Investigations Roman Truba was previously the head of pre-judicial investigation in case of Andrii Portnov, ex-deputy Head of the Administration of the president of Yanukovych.
According to Holovan, the SBI, as a law enforcement agency, has been destroyed because not only the head of the SBI, Roman Truba, violates the law, but also investigators who, contrary to the law, obey Truba’s instructions.
Earlier, Ihor Holovan urged Prosecutor General Ruslan Riaboshapka not to violate the Constitution by hinting at cases where Petro Poroshenko “may have a different status than a witness.”
